Our faces provide a glimpse into how we have lived and experienced life. The laugh lines around our eyes, the smile lines around our mouths and the wrinkles that develop over time, reveal aspects of our lifestyle, emotions and what we inherited from our parents.
Our skin also reflects the wear and tear from sun damage caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays. Dark spots caused by hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and sun spots are all visible signs of aging accelerated by inadequate sun protection. Hormonal shifts from adolescence, the childbearing years, perimenopause and menopause, leave their imprints on our skin.Â
As we mature, these changes accelerate and become more prominent, especially as we navigate our 40’s and beyond. Our lifestyle choices and skin care routines must focus on preventing further damage prevention and reversing the effects of previous damage.
A good skin care goal should never be to erase all the evidence of having lived a full life, but to reflect the glow of a well cared for skin at every age
