We sell natural and unrefined raw shea butter. No, all shea butter is not created equal – unrefined raw shea is hand crafted on mechanically pressed, refined shea stripped to remove the natural color and scent; losing some of its natural anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.
Unrefined shea is beige, or light yellow, with a characteric nutty in scent. It will leave a satiny finish on your skin when applied. Refined shea is bright white and has no scent.
All of our products are both gluten-free and vegan. If you need a full ingredient list, please refer to the description section underneath each product.
We use both terms interchangeabley . The sell unrefined raw shea butter. No, all shea butter is not created equal – unrefined raw shea is manufactured by hand, refined shea is manufactured by machines and altered by potentially hazardous chemicals; losing some of its natural anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties.
In some African countries, raw shea butter is used in food preparation just like animal butter or vegetable oil is used in cooking in the West and other countries. That said, all shea butter that is currently sold in the US and other parts of the world is not for consumption but it is sold as a “skin food”, meaning that you can apply it to your skin and it will feed it vitamins and antioxidants that your skin needs to stay healthy. We believe that this practice is more out of habit than anything else – it is possible that, given the right testing and pending it meets the FDA standards, shea butter may one day be sold and marketed in non-African countries as a food item.
We use natural and organic ingredients with no harmful preservatives.
Unrefined shea is made naturally, by hand; the only ingredient in unrefined shea butter is shea.
Everything! Shea butter is known world-wide as a miracle healing plant for most skin conditions. Shea butter will fight wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, eczema, chapped lips, rough skin, sore muscles, open wounds, sun burns, and much more.
A superior quality, fresh, pure, and non-refined Shea butter can be preserved for an average duration of 1.5 years to 2 years. Beyond this duration, we consider that the reconstructive properties of the butter are lost. Just like any other vegetable fat, non-refined Shea butter can be preserved for several months without requiring the use of a cold chain processing. The advantage of non-refined Shea butter is that it contains a reconstructive asset ratio much more important than refined Shea butter. However, since unrefined Shea butter is a natural and “living” material (which explains its effectiveness), the reconstructive assets disappear with time and use of the product. It is the law of nature. Nevertheless, one “simply” needs to discover a few Shea butter hand-craft production secrets and to master the dosages of non-refined Shea butter with vegetable oil to preserve all its Reconstructive properties.
Shea Butter is the best moisturizer you can use all over your body while you are pregnant. It moisturizes your skin, soothes “tummy itch” and protects the elasticity of your skin, so it can stretch as much as necessary, with minimal scarring.

Product Specific
The lighter textured products like the Nourishing Cream and the Brightening Body Cream work well for the face and body. Our products are primarily created to deeply moisturize your body and hair. Due to the natural nut ingredients found in most of our products we recommend that you read the ingredient label to determine whether or not you’d like to use our Body Care or Shea butter products for your face. If you’re still unsure please test it first by applying our products to your inner elbow. For extra assurance we recommend consulting your physician or an Esthetician. You can use unrefined shea butter as a stand-alone face moisturizer by breaking off a pea size portion of shea, then rubbing it between your fingers to let it melt. Then you should gently massage it into your skin, starting with your cheeks and moving around your face. The reason that you should do it this way is because the natural heat from rubbing it between your fingers breaks down the shea butter into an oil form. This makes it easier to spread on your face, and the skin will absorb it faster. Keep in mind that this is pure butter and a little goes a long way – just use enough that will get absorbed on your skin, and you can pat dry any excess as needed. Another terrific way to use shea butter on your face is to melt a small amount with other ingredients of your choice such as Apricot Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil or Almond Oil and blend them to make a nice face moisturizer. You use a ratio of 50% shea butter and 50% oil, work them together with a utensil until a nice lotion is formed, and then add a few drops of essential oils to add a natural scent and to experience additional therapeutic qualities of essential oils.

Shea butter closely resembles the oils your own skin manufactures to keep your skin nourished, elastic, and moisturized. There are no chemicals, preservatives, colorants, dyes, or perfumes in African Fair Trade unrefined Shea butter. We believe the common overuse of synthetic ingredients is partially why people develop skin sensitivities, especially those with a tendency to break out.
