Turning 60 Strong: Aging as Evolution, Not Resistance

Turning 60 Strong: Aging as Evolution, Not Resistance

Sixty isn’t a cliff; it’s a crossroads. In this intimate reflection, Funlayo shares how she’s choosing to see aging as evolution—releasing what no longer fits, honoring her body’s wisdom, and stepping into this decade with strength, softness, and intention.

There’s something sacred about reaching sixty. I see this milestone not as the closing of a chapter, but as proof that life keeps unfolding in new and unexpected ways — if we let it.

When I reflect on my 50s, I can honestly say they were the best decade of my life so far — spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. They taught me to trust the seasons, listen to my body, and stay anchored in what truly matters: my faith, my family, my purpose, and the community that keeps me inspired to show up fully.

In the world we live in, we’re surrounded by messages urging us to fight aging, hide our years, or chase the idea of staying “forever young.” But the truth I’ve come to embrace is this: aging isn’t about resisting time — it’s about evolving into who you’re called to become next.

Part of this evolution is letting go. Letting go of routines, roles, or beliefs that no longer fit the woman I’ve become. Letting go of the pressure to do everything myself — something I prided myself on in my younger years — and learning instead to integrate what truly matters.

I no longer seek perfect balance. Balance is static. Life is not. What I want now is alignment. A rhythm rooted in my North Star: my faith, my husband, my children — and then everything else.

Aging well — or as I now say, aging strong — is holistic. It’s skincare, yes — daily rituals that nourish my skin and remind me to care for this vessel that’s carried me for sixty years. It’s food and movement that fuel me, not drain me. It’s rest that restores me.

One thing that grounds me daily is my simple hydration ritual. Every morning and evening, I reach for our Restorative Hydrating Lotion, our crown jewel. It’s more than just moisture — it’s a moment to pause, breathe, and remind myself that caring for my skin is part of caring for me.

At sixty, I also embrace my role as an elder, a guide, a keeper of stories. It’s my joy to mentor other women, remind them that longevity is not about holding onto the past but planting seeds for the future — and nurturing the woman they’re becoming right now.

If you’re reading this, maybe you’re standing at your own threshold. Maybe you’re asking what it means to age well — to evolve, not resist.

What do you need to let go of, so you can step fully into who you’re becoming?

May we keep becoming — hydrated, nourished, and strong — together.

💛 Funlayo
